Rocky Raccoon is a multidisciplinary artist working across installation, sculpture, performance, video, sound, photography, and text. Her methodology combines embodied action, material experimentation, and conceptual research to investigate how cultural values, social behaviours, and inherited narratives are learned, repeated, and maintained.
Working with found, discarded, and everyday materials, she is interested in the ways bodies become sites through which systems of labour, ritual, heritage, and institutional power are enacted and contested. Through repetition, endurance, accumulation, and acts of maintenance, her work traces the relationships between personal experience and broader histories of migration, gender, class, and settler colonialism.
Recent projects have drawn on Irish-Australian inheritance, devotional traditions, domestic labour, and long-distance running as frameworks for examining belonging, obligation, resilience, and cultural transmission. Moving between humour, vulnerability, and critical reflection, her practice treats making as a form of inquiry, using materials, actions, and situations to reveal the structures that shape everyday life.
I acknowledge that I live, create and run on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the East Kulin Nations. I pay my respects to the Traditional Owners, their Elders past and present.
