By working with fragments and the forgotten, my practice unravels the architectures of the uncanny, power structures, and identity through a feminist lens. I work with a range of abject materials and discarded objects to expose how histories are constructed—and whose voices are noticed.
Sacred iconography and remnants of domestic life recur throughout - reframed to confront inherited myths and networks that sustain injustice. Guided by the visceral symbolism of Ana Mendieta and the corporeal intimacy of Kiki Smith, I embrace instability and ambiguity as generative strategies. Referencing Lucy Lippard’s advocacy for decentralised, materially modest art and Carol Hanisch’s assertion that “the personal is political,” recurring motifs acknowledge the home not only as a site of subjugation, but also of subversion and survival.
My recently completed body of work reimagines devotional motifs, drawing on the tradition of ex voto offerings and their evolution from pagan ritual to formal divinity. These forms, grounded in misfortune and gratitude, become public sites of spiritual and political reflection. Each work is an embodied petition—recording invisible labour, sensuality, exhaustion, and quiet defiance. Through multi-layered installations, I construct immersive environments where dominant narratives can fray. Together, they honour female suffering and resilience as worthy of veneration, reclaiming domestic space as both altar and theatre of endurance.
I acknowledge that I live and create on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the East Kulin Nations. I pay my respects to the Traditional Owners, their Elders past and present.
